Don’t Distract Yourself. Know Yourself.
Going to bed without your phone is a life-changing ritual
😴📱 “When do you stop using your devices at night?”, I asked one of my first clients.
He looked at me and laughed…
😂 “My devices stop using me after I fall asleep.”
This used to happen to me, too.
Because doing nothing is the hardest things there is, right?
It can be scary, to face these feelings, instead of facing another instantly entertaining video.
Blaise Pascal once said:
“All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”
But today, we can ignore that inability, right?
We used to face these moments of solitude; waiting in line, traveling, or before going to bed.
📱 Today, we have our phones with us every moment of the day… And we can always distract us, whenever we feel the slightest unease.
🏃♂️ It’s never been easier to run from ourselves.
And as a result, it’s never been harder to know ourselves!
But if we don’t know ourselves…
How are we supposed to build the life we want?
The good news is:
We can choose to reclaim our attention and be present with ourselves.
It’s then, that we can know ourselves, and be truly present with each other.
